Mario and Crash's Mansion Chapter 4

Chapter Four: Playing fire with water:

"Well, we're here." Crash said as he opened the Fortune-Tellers Room and they went in.

They were surprised when they got in the room. Mario was leaning against another door but it opened and he fell in.

"MOMMA-MIA!" Mario cried as the door slammed behind him.

"MARIO!" Crash gasped.

Mario got up and found himself in the Mirror Room. It was still dark but there was a big mirror on one wall. Mario saw a ghost behind him in the mirror and turned to face him.

But he was not there.

"Huh?" Mario asked. He then was struck from behind by a ghost. He broke free and sucked him up. "I get-a-it. The ghosts can only be seen in the mirror. I wonder..."

He looked at the mirror and another ghost appeared. This time, Mario was ready. He sucked up all the ghosts and the lights turned back on and a chest appeared. But the door is still sealed. Mario opened the chest and found a red coin with a flame on it.

"Whats-a-this?" Mario asked as he picked it up and pocketed it. Then he got a call from E.Gadd.

"What have you got there, Mario?" E.Gadd said. "Ah...I see...What you got there is a Elemental Medal. Now you can use Fire Element Ghosts."

"Fire Elemental Ghosts?" Mario asked.

"They show up when you are near fire. They're ghosts of fire itself if you will." E.Gadd said. "Mario, you can now control fire. Once you've captured a fire ghost you can use it to blow out fire. Careful, it can die down. Some ghosts can only defeated with fire I hear. Don't say I didn't warn you!" And he logged off.

"Fire's my specialty." Mario said as he reached up to the torch. All of a sudden, a small red fire ball appeared. Mario sucked it up and looked at the candles. He decided to test if E.Gadd was right. He used the fire power to light them up. As he did so, the door became unsealed and Crash barged in trying to get Mario out.

"Are you okay, Mario?" Crash asked.

"Yeah." Mario said. "And I got a new element power. Allow me show you outside."

After they sucked up the room's Boo, they went out, Mario lighted more candles in the Fortune-Tellers Room, as soon it did, Crash noticed the key on top of the pillar. He sucked it down and grabbed it.

"Now, this one leads to the Laundry Room." Crash said. "I'll see you there." And he left the room.

Mario was about to follow him out to the hallway when he noticed a candle stick floating up and down the hallway.

"Maybe I should light the candles." Mario said.

As Mario did so, a ghost butler appeared making Mario gasp and fall to the floor.

"Ahhhh! Fire! Fire! Fire! Run away! Ruunn away!!!" And he runs off.

"Well, that was weird. Who was that?" Mario said.

Mario analyzed it with the Game Boy Horror. "Shivers, the butler. "He wanders the house, endlessly searching for his master's will. He hopes he's included in it!" Likely."

"He must be a portrait ghost. Get him!" Mario said chasing after Shivers.

Meanwhile Crash cleared the Laundry and felt very pleased.

"Wow..." Crash said. "They get easier every time."

"Run away!" Came a voice. Shivers appeared and exited through the door behind him.

"What was that?" Crash asked.

"It's one of those portrait ghosts!" Mario said as he ran in and followed him through the door Shivers exited. "After him!"

Crash followed and found him in the Butler's Room. Sitting on the chair. Without hesitation, the heroes begin sucking his life and he got sucked in Mario's machine. When the room lit up, Mario found a key and Crash found a mouse hole. Suddenly, he was sucked in.

"Mommia-mia!" Mario gasped as he rushed to the mouse hole.

"Crash, are you alright?" Mario asked.

After a rough landing. Crash found himself in the Hidden Room. It was full of chest's and pot's.

"I'm okay. Come on in." Crash said.

Mario came crashing in.

"A Hidden Room?" Mario asked suprised. "Let's see what this room has."

As they opened up chests, they were surprised to see a white ghost in Crash's way. He tried to suck it up, but couldn't.

"It's not working!" Crash called.

Mario then remember E.Gadd's words as he saw that the ghost has a frozen heart. "Fire melts ice." He used his elemental power and the ghost lost his cold heart.

"Good idea, Mario!" Crash smirked.

After sucking up 4 ghosts, the room lit up and the heroes collected it's treasure, and Crash stumbled upon a Boo. They captured him and used the same mouse hole to escape. They captured the Boo in the Butler's Room and the Laundry Room as well, just to make sure to weaken the Boos power. Mario had the strangest feeling to open the washing machine. And when he did, he saw a green hat.

"It's Luigi's." Mario gasped. "It's Luigi's hat."

"Then Luigi is here in the mansion." Crash said. "Then so is Spyro."

"Let's go to the Conservatory." Mario said. "That's where the next key goes."

They made their way through the corridors to the Conservatory. There was a harp, a horn, a cello, three kettle drums and xylophone and a piano.

"I wonder."

The heroes start tapping the instruments and they begin playing the Super Mario Bros. Theme. But that leaves the piano, but a female blonde hair ghost is there playing it.

"I am Melody Pianissima." said the ghost. "I must say I'm interested with your music talents."

"Hold on." Crash said as he checked his Game Boy Horror. "Yep that's your name. And it also says that "Despite playing loving melodies, she has a surely disposition. Oddly enough, she loves video games." Video games?"

"That's right. And let me play you a little of my music. Here I go." Melody said as she begins playing the piano. It felt familiar to Crash though.

"So..." Melody said as she finished. "do you know what that piece was called?"

"Hey...that's the main intro from my old games." Crash said.

"Exactly! You got it!" Melody said cheerfully. "I guess I didn't need to hlod back with you two. Would you like to do battle with my lovely music sheets?" She starts playing again as she fires notes.

"Suck up the notes!" Mario shouted. "That's her weakness!"

And so they did and they sucked Melody into Crash's machine. And once the room lit, they captured the Boo and they got the key to the Dining Room.

"Just think Crash." Mario said. "We have captured 3 portrait ghosts already and 3 in the gallery."

"4 you mean if you count The Floating Whirlindas" Crash reminded him.

"Good thing we know our songs." Mario said as they reached the door and opened the door to the Dining Room.

Crash slipped on a banana peel as Mario got more fire power from the torch.

"Yuck!" Crash said as he got up and looked at the table. "What a mess."

Mario lit the candles to revel another ghost. And to their disgust, a huge fat ghost was eating some orange jelly.

"Urghh..." Crash said. "He eats worse than you Mario."

"Oh shut up!" Mario shouted as he got out his Game Boy Horror and calmed as he examined "Mr. Luggs, that's his name. "He prefers all-you-can-eat buffets to three meals a day. He ate himself to death but still wasn't satisfied." Yuck!"

"Hmm...I'll try to suck up all his jelly so he can fight us." Crash said.

As Crash began sucking up the jelly, Mario saw two servant ghosts trying to offer more. To give Crash some slack, he captured the ghost waiters.

"That was close." Mario said.

"Done." Crash said as he sucked up the jelly. "Uh-oh."

"What do you mean Uh-oh?" Mario asked.

Crash pointed to see Mr. Luggs get very enraged and started shooting fireballs at them.

"MOMMA-MIA!"

"DUCK!"

As they ducked, they kept on dodging 14 fireballs from Mr. Luggs. After the last one he got very tired.

"That was close." Crash said.

"Let's-a-get him!" Mario said as he took out his Poltergust 3000.

And so Mr. Luggs was captured within Crash's machine and the Dining Room lit up again.

Crash was about to clean up the rubbish when the Boo appeared again. After capturing him, the heroes slumped down to relax. After a little rest, they went into the next room, the Kitchen. It only had one ghost and Mario took care of it. But the door leading onwards was on fire.

"Great! When did you set the door on fire Mario?" Crash asked sarcastically as he captured the Boo in this area.

"Stop being sarcastic, I did-a-not do it." Mario said as Crash turned on the lights.

"Hey, there's a chest." Crash said as he opened it and picked up a blue medal.

"Crash, you just got the water elemental medal." Mario said. "According to E.Gadd, you can now use the power of water near water places, like a sink or a faucet. And since you got it, you are now the wielder of water."

"Cool!" Crash said.

"Use your water powers to put out the fire." Mario suggested.

Crash put out the fire and opened the door to the Boneyard. Crash decided to water a small plant in the garden. Mario used his Game Boy Horror around the place for anything suspicious until he came upon a purple dog ghost.

"Hmm...here it is." Mario said. "Spooky..."This creepy canine will sink it's chops into any seemingly edible thing in sight." Man I would hate getting those bites."

"AND CRASH WILL BE THE VICTIM! Mario gasped.

"CRASH! WATCH OUT!" Mario shouted.

But Crash was aware of it. As soon as Spooky charged to attack, Crash dove out of the way as Spooky missed him.

"Hey you oversized dog." Crash said. "Come and get me." Crash teased as he smacked his behind at him, taunting him.

The dog barks again and tried to get Crash but he kept missing. Mario watches on until something tapped him on the shoulder. Scared, he turned around to see a skeleton ghost, called Mr. Bones. He gasped and was forced to use the Poltergust 3000 to suck him up and he dropped a bone.

Spooky lost interest in Crash when he saw the bone and started chewing the bone. The two heroes saw their chance and began sucking him in. He ended up in Mario's machine.

"Phew..." Crash said as he leaned against the dog's house. "he was a lot of fun."

But as he leaned a mysterious mist appeared and sucked Crash in. Mario tried to rescue him, but he was sucked in too. Then they appeared on the side of the wall in a Graveyard.

"Great! We're in the Graveyard!" Mario said.

"Hmm..." Crash said. "We've got company."

Suddenly, three Mr. Bones tried to attack but the heroes got there first and sucked them in.

"This place is done." Crash said. "Let's get out of here."

"Wait!" Mario called. "Why is that huge tombstone glowing?"

And so it is. The big gravestone in the Graveyard started to glow.

"Let's check it out." Crash said.

As they reached the stone, lighting hit it and a purple gooey ghost appeared. This caused Mario and Crash to scream and fall down.

"Wwwwwwwwwwhat is that?" Mario asked in fear.

Crash looked at his Game Boy Horror. "Oh no. His name is Bogmire the cementary ghost. According to this. "A product of the mansions fear and despair. He's not sure what to fear or who to despair of these days." and you want to know what's worse? HE'S A BOSS GHOST!!!"

"Oh momma-mia." Mario said. "Not another boss ghost."

The ghost roared and in flash of lighting he took them to his lair.

"Now where are we?" Mario asked.

"We must be in his lair." Crash said.

Bogmire appeared before them and made shadow clones of himself.

"Don't worry." Crash said. "I may know his secret. We use his shadow clones against him then suck him. We must use our Poltergust 3000's for this.

Mario nodded at this and used his Poltergust 3000 to suck up the clone until it jammed into a ball and Mario managed to drag it onto Bogmire. It got him and the two heroes began to suck him in but he got away when it got down to health level 80.

"This'll be hard." Mario said.

"We can't give up! Or we'll never save our friends from whoever is behind all this." Crash said.

"Good point." Mario said.

After some more tries, Crash finally captured Bogmire. And they returned to the Graveyard.

"Phew..." the heroes slumber down. The battle did have an effect on them. Mario opened a huge chest and collected a green key.

Mario's Game Boy Horror went off again and E.Gadd called him as Crash surrounded him.

"Guys, can you hear me?" E.Gadd said

"Yeah, we're fine." Crash said. "Just tired."

"Good to hear that. I lost your signal when that lighting struck." E.Gadd said. "Again, you two fought a great battle. Why don't you come back to the lab?"

"Erm...Professor." Mario said. "I think the lighting might have struck my Poltergust 3000."

"Don't worry about it." E.Gadd said. "Even if that lighting cooked your goose, your Poltergust 3000 wouldn't have a stratch."

"That's good." Crash said."We'll be back in a minute Professor."

Once they came back, E.Gadd saw they had lots of ghosts and asked if they would put them through the Ghost Portrificationiser. They did so and the ghosts turned back into paintings. Then, the two heroes returned to the mansion to search for their friends.

End of Chapter 4

A/N: Next time we find out who is behind all this and what happened to Luigi and Spyro. Until next time, see ya!
Sorry for the delay guys. I got kinda wrapped up in other things. I skipped Chapter 3 in my notebook to do this. So, who is behind all of this? Chapter 5 will have the answer. I'll work on Chapter 5 after I rest my hands. Enjoy!
